Skal Biocontrole visits organic markets in the Netherlands in December and January. In doing so, Skal oversees compliance with organic regulations at the market and contributes to a reliable organic product for the consumer.

What does this mean for market stall holders?

Market stall holders selling organic products may be visited in the coming weeks by one of our inspectors. Market stall holders who sell unpackaged (‘loose’) organic products in their stall or who process these products, such as cutting, repackaging or combining, need a bio‑certificate from Skal. If a stall holder only sells pre‑packaged organic products, it is usually not necessary for the stall to be certified. Also for a catering establishment or catering (e.g., a food truck or fries stall) a bio‑certificate is not required, because these activities do not fall under Regulation (EU) 2018/848. Sellers with a limited organic turnover do not need to apply for a bio‑certificate under specific conditions.
