The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) warns about the appetite‑stimulating product Bodiq Weight Gain Pills. Laboratory analysis shows that prohibited substances are present in this product. These are dexamethasone and cyproheptadine. These substances pose serious health risks. The product is offered, among others, on bodiqboost.com and via social‑media channels such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. The NVWA advises not to purchase these pills and not to use them.

The product is promoted as a formula that contains natural, safe and effective ingredients that support healthy weight gain. The harmful ingredients are deliberately omitted from the label. Dexamethasone is an adrenal cortex hormone that suppresses inflammation and hypersensitivity reactions. Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine. Its use can lead to serious side effects such as a stomach ulcer, muscle cramps or even tendon rupture. It can also cause bone demineralisation (osteoporosis), lead to severe eye disorders, an increased risk of infections and mental problems.

Anyone who has used the product and experiences side effects should consult a physician. Side effects of these products can also be reported to the Lareb Adverse Reaction Centre.

Report sellers

The NVWA strongly advises consumers not to buy such products via social media. Often these products are also sold on websites outside the Netherlands, where the NVWA cannot supervise them. Anyone still encountering such products on the Dutch market is asked to report this to the NVWA.
